Chicks and friends
Our May Day was so much fun, and the chicks provided great entertainment. One highlight was seeing how they would chase and peck at the pinpoint of a laser light. It was amazing how at even one day old they were so alert and capable of hunting things.

The older children are allowed to go visit the chicks with minimal supervision. In fact, they are good at helping the younger ones remember how to hold the chicks gently.

But as the day went on, I had to keep making new rules for the kids. Only one chick out at a time per kid! No putting chicks inside your shirt! Don’t let the chicks run around outside the box!

One nice thing, among many, about having Joyce and her boys over is that the cousins can play together. As Amelia and Mike and Josiah get older, they have more and more fun playing and imagining. If I understand correctly, I believe the white stepstool was a motorcycle in this photo:

We had a fun day yesterday doing all kinds of “extra-curricular” activities. But today we need to get back to the basics. Time to review BibleTelling, hymns, and get some Math and English done. Fortunately the chicks are still in their box in the kitchen, waiting to be visited by children ready for a break from their studies and chores.
