An “Injury” Day

May 8th, 2006 by Christie

Some people take sick days, but here at our house, we’re having an injury day today. I rigged up a swing for the kids to enjoy on the front porch, and they have been swinging on it almost nonstop all day! But one by one they are getting injured. First one kid grabbed the swing while another was swinging, and bada-boom the swinging kid was OFF the swing. Then poor Judah crawled into the path of the swing, and OVER he went! A while later I heard a CLUNK and then some howling, and in walked Luke with a scrape on his back. Not too long after that, an adventurous Isaac tried a new trick and is now sporting a cool rope burn under his arm. Mike stepped on something on the sidewalk and decided he was injured too. Now we can just wait with anticipation for Laura and Amelia to join the ranks of the injured.

Now that the kids are injured, we are fielding various requests for leave from chores due to injury. Isaac is convinced he can’t use a pencil with an injured armpit, and Luke noticed that his hand stings when he puts it in the dishwater. Unfortunately, Mother doesn’t have much sympathy, so they are limping along the best they can. I have to give these boys credit though… despite their dire injuries, they are STILL able to get back on the swing and try new tricks!
