Words of encouragement for homeschool moms

This ‘n That

May 9th, 2006 by Christie

Today’s theme is one of variety! Life here in our house rarely follows one theme for very long anyway, so I’m going to share three different things that I found amusing.

On the Fence
First, let me show you my eldest child “relaxing” yesterday evening while working with some modeling clay.

Laura relaxing

I’d like to know how a person can even SIT on a fence like this, much less consider it relaxing. :-) When I asked Laura how she was doing it, she said without any degree of amazement or bragging, “I’m just sitting on my heels.” Oh. I see.

Their First Apartment

This morning I wanted to let the chicks go outside to play, but there is rain in the forecast, and the skies are gray. They’re getting too big to keep cooped up in a box all day, so I set my mind to thinking of a solution. One thing led to another, and before I knew it, the chicks had their own little first apartment, complete with a plastic lid to deflect the rain. Their old box, flipped over, with a door cut in the side, seems to work perfectly! I’ll let you know if it actually stands the test of rain.

Chicks' Apartment

Don’t they look thrilled with their new digs???

Modern Marvels

Last night a miracle happened in my kitchen. Some of you might remember that we are undergoing a major kitchen renovation. Several months ago my kitchen was gutted down to the walls, and it’s being completely redone. We have been without running water on the first floor all that time. Washing dishes in the bathtub isn’t ideal, but it beats not washing them at all.

But last night the little sink that is in the new downstairs half-bath was hooked up, so now I have running water in the kitchen! This morning I realized the dog needed water in his bowl. “Oh here, Mac, allow me!” Ahhhh, what a wonderful luxury to just walk over to the sink, turn a knob, and real water filled his bowl! Oh, let me see, I think my cut flowers need a water refill. No problem! No bother, really! Do the chicks need more water? Not yet? Bummer.

Over and over I am amazed at how grateful I can be for something I previously took for granted. God is good to remind us of our blessings.

So, I just gotta show you! Here is it is! My sink! And it works.

What things in your life has God helped you learn to be more grateful for? Leave me a comment sharing your story. And have a great day!

i think laura is just trying to “perch” like the little chicks do on her finger.

That thought actually crossed my mind! But I never thought a human could perch like that. :-)
