Words of encouragement for homeschool moms

I’m grateful… #3

July 22nd, 2006 by Christie

I’ve always thought it would be so neat to have curly hair. My hair is as straight as can be, with only slight hints at being wavy when it’s humid outside. Mostly, it’s just straight. So when I met Michael and realized he had naturally curly hair, I thought that was so cool! Of course, his curly hair frustrated him most of his life, until he joined the Air Force and realized that shaving his head made the curls go away!

Curls

Three of my four boys have had very curly hair as babies. Their baby curls are so beautiful that people often mistake our baby boys for girls, even though I dress them in boyish colors and outfits. Since I’m doing this series on things I’m grateful for in my life, I realized that I had to include this: I’m grateful for baby curls! I really love feeling Judah’s curls, pinching those curls in my fingers, and watching his curly little head toddle around. When Judah is asleep, his curls are even more beautiful. I know from experience that once we give Judah his first haircut, those curls will never look as beautiful as they do now. So I’m enjoying them all the more.

You might wonder about my daughters. No, of course they don’t have curls! They have straight brown hair like their mother. Isn’t life quirky that way???
