Words of encouragement for homeschool moms

Perspective

August 4th, 2006 by Christie

We are often amazed at the friendship between our children, but most specifically, between Amelia and Michael Jr. They are best friends. Even though Amelia is only four years old (almost five!) and Mike is only three, they get along so well! Many times we find them sitting together, playing together, talking together or eating together. They watch out for each other. They encourage one another.

Last night I thought back to the days (and months) that I was pregnant with each of them, nursing them, gaining weight with them, and agonizing over having two babies so close together! They are my closest pair. Only 18 months separates them. When I started the pregnancy with Mike, I was at my highest pre-pregnancy weight, and of course it only went UP from there. After Mike was born I had so much weight to lose.

And now? Well, the weight came off. (And then went back on, of course!) The babies grew up. They were potty trained. They learned to talk. And now? They are best friends.

It doesn’t really matter how much I weighed. It doesn’t really matter at all. I need to keep repeating that so I’ll remember it next time I worry about how much I weigh when I find out I’m pregnant. There are much more important things to think about… like whose best friend I am carrying in my womb.
