Tuesday report
Yesterday Michael came home from work with many other things on his list to do besides kitchen work. He was still exhausted from a very short night’s sleep, and he had some computer work needing his attention. But I encouraged him to just do a little on the sink so that we could at least have running water in the sink. He agreed, and he jumped into the project with vigor.
Unfortunately there was one roadblock after another. Problems with the pvc, leaks in the copper joints, and numerous thumps on the head by an ornery pipe hanging just a little too low. But Michael persevered and labored on without complaining. Many hours later he finally had to call it quits. It was well after 11 pm when we finally crawled upstairs and fell into bed. In fact, I think it was closer to midnight. So that’s two long work nights and two short sleep nights in a row. Needless to say, the computer work didn’t happen. I wish I could report a working sink and dishwasher, but that will have to wait for another post. We are several steps closer to completion, but it just wasn’t possible last night.
I’m proud of my hard-working husband. He has an awful lot on his plate. I can’t remember the last time he just relaxed for an evening.
We both agreed last night that we aren’t very interested in our next house being a “fixer-upper”. We think that maybe we’re ready for something a bit less “needy”.
Today is drippy and dreary outside, but cozy and sleepy inside. I’ve had two cups of coffee so far, so that helps me feel a bit more perky. (Ha! It’s a pun!) The kids have had some hot cocoa, and Judah has livened things up by crawling onto the kitchen table and throwing everything onto the floor. Of the four mugs he flung, only one of them broke into smithereens, so that’s a relief. I guess that’s one way to take care of the dirty dishes.
Enough rambling. Off to the next thing!

It looks beautiful!!! I am so pround of you all! Soon you will be a “dish washin’ fool” in your new kitchen sink and dishwasher.
I really want to see it. Can I just pick the computer up when it is ready? That would be a good excuse to stop by! (btw…..that doesn’t mean you need to rush the computer stuff).

We would love to have you stop by!!! What a great idea.
I’ve already told Michael that when the sink and dishwasher works, I think I’ll claim a turn at the dishes. What fun!

This looks amazing. I am so impressed. Slow and steady really is going to win the race. What a beautiful picture of perserverance you all are creating for your kiddos. (And the rest of us who would have grumbled ridiculously about not having a sink!)
We’re not worth. We’re not worthy!
I’m going to invent a reason to stop by, too. Deer meat anyone?

Jen, you don’t need to invent a reason!
Bring your kids and come on over next time you need a break from school.
