A little creepy…
Today was a full day! I can’t quite remember exactly what all we did this morning, but by noon I was gearing up to run errands and trying to remember Laura’s piano lesson. Today was her second piano lesson. How exciting! Oh, I remember now! Part of our morning was spent making sure those of us who play stringed instruments got our practice time in. I told Laura, Luke and Amelia that if they practice every day I will give them a little pack of gum by their next lesson on Monday. So the motivation to practice early in the day is incredible!
Michael got off work early, so we picked him up and ran to Lowe’s to get a few more pieces for our kitchen project. Once we got home Michael started working on the sink again. He worked until 20 minutes before our Spanish class. Then he wolfed down his supper and we ran out the door to get to class on time. Funny how we still had time to stop at a gas station to grab some drinks on the way.
My sister Joyce came over to babysit and to teach Spanish here at our house. Her pupils included her son Nathan and our three oldest children.
After our class we stopped at Lowe’s again and then hurried home. Michael jumped back into the sink project while Joyce and I chatted and then chased children off to bed. Unfortunately Michael is missing one more piece before the sink can be completely functional, but everything else is ready. The dishwasher is hooked up and plugged in. The new faucet is working. We have a bucket under the sink just in case someone runs water into it. I need to buy some dishwasher detergent. I’ve never done that before. Any suggestions on brand or type???
While Michael was working, Laura was under the sink being goofy. I glanced over to see a hand waving out of the sink, and I just HAD to grab my camera and share the moment with you.
Happy Halloween, a little early!

Cascade - Liquid. I have nothing against generics, I am a big Equate brand user, but I really think Cascade is worth the money. I have to use liquid because we chose not to soften the water from our kitchen faucet (don’t need the small amount of salt it would put in our diets) and powders don’t dissolve real well. Nothing worse than opening up the dishwasher and seeing powder residue on everything. Jet Dry isn’t bad to use either, it helps prevent streaks but I don’t buy it too often.
Your kitchen is amazing - I am so jealous! You should be so proud of your family - all of the work that has been done and all that everyone has “put up with” for the last year. Sure the kids are young and probably thought (in the beginning) that doing dishes in the bathtub was a neat thing to do-but did that novelty wear off? You are an amazing woman to just continually “go with the flow” and have so much patience. Your sister amazes me also, just pitching right in like that. That is what family is about and I must say yours is a great example. Of course Michael amazes me just because he has the gumption to even try something like that. Take care of yourself (and be impressed that I figured out how to post a comment here!). Now we will see how long it takes to submit over my slow slow phone lines.

Chris, Thanks for leaving a comment! You’re right, dishes in the bathtub got old fairly quickly, but there wasn’t much else to do, so we just accepted it as the way things were. I told Michael you left a comment, and he smiled very nicely.
