Day Five
Because I’ve fallen behind on my blogging, I am going to talk twice as fast as I recap days five and six. So hold on to your hat and turn up your hearing aid!
Sunday morning we woke up leisurely. Michael, Judah and I slipped off to breakfast where I made two waffles for myself in the waffle makers and collected a biscuit with some gravy, too. It was way more food than I should have taken, but I sure did enjoy what I was able to eat. It amused me that my breakfast was almost all carbs, while Michael’s was high-protein. He had eggs, bacon, milk & cereal and yogurt. Reminds me of Jack Sprat and his wife…
When we got back to the room, Mike and Amelia were ready to head to breakfast, so I took them. It was nice to be able to help them without trying to get myself something to eat too. I was already stuffed!
The older kids finally woke up and headed off to get their breakfast. Afterwards we went to the pool. It was a peaceful, enjoyable time.
We checked out of the motel and got on the road around noon. I was so glad that Michael took a short detour through Savannah. He blamed it on a wrong turn, but I was so tickled to be able to see the beautiful houses and trees. Laura and I agreed that it was “enchanted” the way the trees met over the top of the road and the Spanish moss dripped off of the branches.
We drove for about five hours. It went well, even though we had to stop just about every hour.
Michael’s mother, Nancy, had sent along some odds and ends of food for us, and those things ended up saving us quite a bit in food expense. Several times I dipped into the stash and was able to feed kids and keep them happy rather than buying food along the way.
We finally go to Old Key West Resort at Disney where we met up with my folks and my sister and her family. After everything was carried in, the ladies went grocery shopping. What fun!
When we got back to the room we baked some frozen pizzas for supper. Then we took the kids to the pool, and then finally got everyone into bed.
