Words of encouragement for homeschool moms

Day Six

January 22nd, 2007 by Christie

I was able to sleep late this morning since Michael got up with the kids. We had a leisurely breakfast and then we finally got our family together and headed to the main lobby to buy the tickets for the theme parks. We dropped almost $600 just to see Magic Kingdom as a family tomorrow and then for Michael to take the three oldest children to a park on Thursday. Whew! Disney vacations are not cheap! Maybe next time we’ll just go camping… ;-)

We had fun getting free refills in our resort mugs, we checked out the big pool, and then we caught a bus back to our room.

While we were doing all that, Laura went with Hagberg clan and my dad to tour the area, which included Downtown Disney.

We had lunch of salad, sandwiches and soup, and then we went to the big pool that has the sandcastle slide.

Michael stayed behind in the room while Judah napped and Miguel rested.

We came back from that and then went to get drink refills at a different snack stand than we’d been to before. We gotta check out all the areas and pools and playgrounds we can!

Unfortunately, on the way home from our fun time, Judah tripped and scraped his knees badly. They were already tender from a fall yesterday, so this episode was especially severe. I carried him into our room with blood on his knees. Michael helped me by running to get the bandaids in our van glove compartment. We liberally applied the antibiotic ointment and bandaids that Nancy had handed to me shortly before we left Front Royal. I forget exactly who had needed them, but one of the other kids had a little cut, so she offered extra bandaids and ointment if I wanted them. I thought that was nice to have on hand, so I accepted. Little did I know how very grateful I would be to have these medical supplies. Thank you, Mom!

After Judah’s knees were bandaged, I made waffles for supper and then we sent the kids to bed early since we have a big day tomorrow. Then Michael and I went out to Downtown Disney ALONE…with hundreds of other people. We had fun shopping around, seeing lots of things the kids would like, but we bought only a few little things… something for my scrapbook, and a set of three small die-cast buses. I wanted the one that looked like our resort transport buses so Miguel would remember them. He’s really fascinated with the buses!

We ended our time at DD with a stop at the Ghirardelli restaurant. We got two sundae concoctions that were absolutely scrumptious! Then we had a romantic ride home on the ferry boat, enjoying the night breeze, and talking about our family and our life.

When we got home, Judah was waiting up for us, along with my folks and my sister. Judah hadn’t wanted to fall asleep, so he got lots of attention from his auntie and his grandma who kept stuffing him with food. We visited with everyone for a while and now we’ve headed to bed. I’m looking forward to seeing with the kids think of Magic Kingdom tomorrow.
