Day Eight

January 25th, 2007 by Christie

After a busy day and late night Tuesday, we were so pleased to not have anything on the agenda this morning. We didn’t sleep as late as we would if we didn’t have young children in our group, but we did enjoy a later morning than usual.

Since we were all together and weren’t rushing off to any parks, we made waffles again, and this time Steve made German pancakes. We didn’t have enough ingredients to make a huge batch, but we thoroughly enjoyed the ones we had.

After breakfast we held a planning meeting, trying to decide who would do what for the last day or two here. As we talked, we stumbled across the idea of Michael and Isaac pulling themselves together and going to MGM right away, thus allowing a separate group of us to go to Animal Kingdom tomorrow. This would make the best sense for the kids staying behind and those being left behind to watch them. So Michael and Isaac flew around, collected themselves, and they were gone.

Rather than giving you a blow-by-blow of the whole day (considering it’s midnight now), I’ll just tell you about my favorite part.

This morning, after things settled down, I took my three younger kids to the big pool that is also right next to a big sand play area. They played and played, first in the sand, and then in the pool (which is my preferred order of events!), until I dragged them home for lunch. Then, after supper, a big group of us suddenly decided to go to the pool. The odd thing about that is that it was raining outside! But the weather was mild and the pool was heated, so we just swam in the drizzle and had a great time. A few of us went down the big circular slide several times, and then when the staff shut that down, we all migrated to the hot tub. The little kids seemed to really enjoy the excursion, and it was so nice to have lots of grown-ups there to help watch kids.

This was a nice day. Lots more happened. Judah skinned his knees again, this time through his jeans overalls! Luke fell and skinned his knee, but then he, Laura and Nathan were able to get a ride home on one of the Disney maintenance carts that drive around the property all day. Laura and Nathan spent most of the day at the big pool. Even though the day was overcast all day, Laura is still a little sunburned. We made a nice supper of tacos, and I made some chicken enchiladas for tomorrow’s supper.

Michael and Isaac had a very nice time at MGM Studios. The rain didn’t interfere much at all with their activities.

Tomorrow my dad, Joyce, Laura, Amelia and I will go to Animal Kingdom. We want to get there right away at 9 a.m. and stay until the park closes at 5 p.m. I think we’ll have a nice time, though I’m still recovering from my Magic Kingdom day. ☺

Thanks for reading my blog. It’s fun for me to think that someone out there is reading and following along.

Oh, and the reason this post is delayed is because our 24-hour internet allowance expired right before midnight, and I didn’t get this written in time. I hate to renew the internet time right before we’re going to sleep away the first 7 hours of it. ☺ Talk to you again soon! Love, Christie
