Words of encouragement for homeschool moms

Countdown

July 11th, 2007 by Christie

We leave for Guatemala in two days.  Friday night at 8 pm we’re supposed to be at the church to meet up with our group.  Then we’ll drive to Chicago to catch a red-eye flight to Guatemala City.

I’ve been making lists, checking lists, crossing things off lists, carrying my list with me everywhere… and I’m almost ready to go.  We packed the kids’ suitcases on Monday and packed the bags in the van where they wait to be delivered Friday afternoon.

Food has been purchased, gifts have been purchased, suitcases have been measured, and my mind keeps racing with all the little details that I want to remember.

I think I’m ready for this.  I don’t feel the same apprehension that I felt weeks ago.  Now I just need to get the last few things in order, and we’ll be on our way.

As you think of us, please pray.  Not only would we appreciate prayer for safety and all that good stuff, but if you would pray that we would really hear God’s voice while we’re away from our regular lives, that would be wonderful.  Some say that when you get away, God is able to get your attention in ways He couldn’t before.  We’re looking forward to that experience.

Michale was giving me details yesterday on your trip. It sounds absolutely wonderful! That many small children needing your help! I would love the job of head cook, that is right up my alley. I hope you are able to enjoy all of the wonders you will see and come back with an even BIGGER appreciation for your life and all you have been given. We will be asking for your safety. Take care

    Christie,
I am so excited for you and Michael and the rest of the team. May God grant you all a bigger picture of His Love, Mercy , and Compassion. You are in for a real treat. We will continue to pray for you and your kids as they are here. Continue to trust the Father. I am anxious to see just which hearts the Lord pierces towards the orphans of Guatemala.(smile)
    With my Love,
    Janie
