Words of encouragement for homeschool moms

Tragedy

September 20th, 2007 by Christie

Just a few moments ago, Laura’s bird, Tangle, suddenly started thrashing around and fell to the floor and died.  We have no idea what happened.  I had my back to him so didn’t see if he got caught on something or what.  The other kids were downstairs, and Laura was in the bathroom, so there were no witnesses.

Of course, Laura is devastated and I don’t know what to do for her.  Getting another bird for her seems like a logical thing to do, but the new bird wouldn’t be Tangle.

What a sad way to start our day.

    Dear Laura,
I am so sorry about Tangle. I remember when I was a little girl and we had this wonderful parakeet named Skipper. My mom used to let him fly around the house and he would land on the door frames and the tops of the lampshades. One day he was out flying around and I was practicing my gymnastics. Well….he landed on the floor right when my foot was coming down from a cart wheel and I stepped right on top of him and killed him. It was devastating and I was so very sad. I missed him very much. We did get another beautiful parakeet after that. Even though he wasn’t as clever as Skipper, it was fun to have another little bird in the house. I hope you will find another budgie you can love and enjoy.

    Dearest Laura,

I am so sorry about Tangles. My sister Janet had many pet birds when we were growing up.

I hope that you get another bird soon. I look forward to many adventure with your family when I get to Illinois.

    Love and prayers always,
    Grammy
