Yesterday was a really rough day for me. There wasn’t any one thing that was so terrible, but one thing after another challenged my ideas of how a day is supposed to go. Read the rest of this entry »

As I sit here and drink my first cup of coffee, I’ll chat with you for a bit and fill you in a few of the things happening here. Nothing terribly exciting…just coffee chat stuff. Read the rest of this entry »

I loved my front porch on Monroe Street. It was a refuge.
When we moved to Bobwhite, we brought the porch furniture, but it wasn’t until last night that I finally got it arranged. This morning I brought my cup of coffee out to the front porch to see if it would be at all the same. I’m pleased to report that coffee tastes just as good in our new location, and the porch here is quite comfortable. In fact, as I write this, I have two little boys here with me, both eating peanut-butter toast, and Laura is sitting with her bird, Tangle, enjoying the fresh air.
I think we’re going to feel right at home here.

It’s Labor Day… so we’re laboring! :-) Fortunately we’re in good spirits as we work to make the Monroe house look less inhabited.
When we got to the house today, we were informed that last night a couple of neighbor kids were caught trying to steal the trampoline out of our back yard. In the process they bent one of the legs. Michael is going to see if a co-worker can fix it. Sure makes it easier to turn our back on this neighborhood.
Last night we held our first “game night” at the Bobwhite house. How fun to have people laughing and playing in “our” house. I also slipped away for a while and worked through some of the piles of baskets that we’ve been carrying in but not dealing with. What a good feeling to get things put away.
This evening we’ll have guests again at the Bobwhite house. We’ll grill hot dogs and hamburgers and enjoy showing off where we’re living now.
The final news item for today is that Laura is going to go pick out her bird and reserve it. We aren’t ready to bring it home yet, but at least we’ll know he’s waiting for us to get ready. She’s so excited. I told her we won’t go until the kitchen is packed up, so she’s been a good worker today! She keeps urging me to get back to work and to let her know what to do next.
So, on that note, I’ll go get back to work.

Hello, I am the daughter of Christie Lyons, Laura Lyons!
I am hoping to get a bird for the first time. It is going to be a grey cockatiel male.

The problem is, the money. It’s not that I can’t get any, it’s just I can’t save my money.
The cage is not a problem, because my mom poked around on freecycle and found a cage available, so I just have to find the money…… perhaps it’ll fall out of the sky! We can point you to someone who has these birds for sale if you’re interested.
Any name Ideas?
