Recital

June 3rd, 2008 by Christie

Tonight was the end-of-the-year piano recital for the girls.  The whole group of students did piano duets, trios or quartets.  It was the most interesting recital I’ve ever heard.

Laura and Amelia worked very hard on the two duets they were to perform.

Tonight they did an excellent job playing together.  I was so proud of them.

One funny thing that Amelia does is that she doesn’t look at the piano while she’s playing.  Oh, sometimes she will, especially if Laura scolds her and reminds her to look at the piano.  But often Amelia looks out at the audience or off into space somewhere.

My friend, Bethany, took many of the photos tonight, and she captured this shot of the girls while they were playing.  I can’t help but wonder what Amelia is looking at.

That’s so funny that she doesn’t look at the piano–maybe that’s a special talent for her! What fun to see them progress-Caleb just started piano lessons today & I’m anxious for he & Kati to be able to play duets together, too!

I agree. I think it must be a “special talent” — and a very useful one!
I am so happy that you’ve made it a priority for the girls to have piano lessons.

Do you think Laurie has room for Hannah in the fall? I’d love for Hannah to take some piano lessons too like Laura and Amelia. Recently, Hannah was friendly with a lady who has small music school across the street. She said that if she’d help her with her English she’d give her some lessons in trade! :) Wish that had started earlier on! I’ll look forward to hearing that duet soon from Amelia and Laura.
