Deep Thought

Antique high chairs are nice for lots of reasons.
If nothing else, they help you understand why people invented newer chairs with the thing in the middle to keep kids from sliding out the bottom.

Oh,oh! Did you have an “incident”?

Oh no, was she okay? I remember when Matt (my oldest) was a baby, and the same thing happened, only with a regular high chair. I guess I hadn’t buckled him in tight enough. It’s a scare that’s for sure.

No incident yet. But Lilly keep sliding down, and we keep rescuing her in various stages of distress. Today I realized it would be nice to have that modern plastic thingie that keeps kiddos from scooting down.

My mother always used some kind of soft cloth item to tie her babies in the high chair. I think I did the same when you kids were babies. Those were the “good old days”.

Your mom is right Christie. I think there are patterns on-line somewhere, where you can sew your own. I don’t think they would take much work to sew. I will ask some of my sewing buddies if they have ever made one. I made a new seat cover for our old highchair, as the vinyl was cracking, and uncomfortible. I simply traced the vinyl one onto material, with seem allowance, and cut the vinyl open, and took out the sponge center, and put it in the new cover I had sewn. It took a few hours to make. I think I have seen pads for the old fashioned high chairs, that have the crotch piece as well.
