This evening we took the family to McDonalds to use some of the coupons we received as prizes for the pumpkin contest. While all nine of us were sitting there, two ladies walked by.

They stopped and chatted with us for a few minutes, and one of them said, “Be sure to enjoy them at this age, because they grow up so fast!” She said that her baby is 27 now. I asked her how many children she has, and she answered, “Six.” It was nice to visit with this lady and be reassured that there is life after “small children”. She assured me that indeed, there will come a day when our nest will be empty, but until then we need to enjoy these years with babies. I hope I can heed these words from someone who has been there.

The photos of the pumpkins are a sample of what is on our porch this very moment. I had fun helping the children get their pumpkins set up and luminated tonight. I think it’s my favorite Halloween decoration…lighted pumpkins.
