Christmas Vacation
One by one the children have been finishing up their school work in order to have a break until the new year. So each day I’ve been a bit more free to do other things besides school. Yesterday we had a marvelous time, making cookies, working on our gingerbread houses and relaxing. Today we made more cookies, and I made a big batch of hot cocoa mix to enjoy. This evening I made some truffles, and I also made a double batch of carrot cake, which I am eating warm as I type.
So, all in all, I’m working hard to gain those five pounds that folks say you gain during the holidays.
Today we got a nice batch of snow. It’s about 3-4 inches, I guess, and it’s beautiful. If it weren’t so cold outside, I’m guessing the children would have spent time playing outside today. But it’s bitterly cold, so the children are admiring the snow from inside the house for now.
Tomorrow we’ll probably make more cookies, and I think a big pot of chili would be in order.
What are you cooking these days?

Hi Christie,
Some of your ginger snap cookies sound good to me. I’m misssing my friends in Illinois. Hope all is well with you .
With Love,

Christie,
I am cooking up 3D snowflake mobiles. They are beautiful and very cheap to make — but exceedingly time intensive. Food for the eyes instead of food for the taste buds.

Christie,
The girls and I each chose a recipe to make. Emma made Peppermint Bark, Anna made M&M Fudge (with help) and we all made sugar cookies together! We’ve enjoyed working together as well as giving away some of our goodies to teachers and family members. Emma has learned how fun it is to give away something that she made herself. What a blessing!
