Paying it off
Michael and I are very eager to pay off our debt. But I am thinking that perhaps we are a bit hyper-focused on it.
Just a moment ago I was making a peanut-butter-and-jelly sandwich for Miguel. When it was all done, I asked him if he wanted me to cut it for him.
“Yes, Please!” he replied. He then indicated he wanted it cut again the other way, so I took the opportunity to give him a quick lesson in fractions.
“You see, Miguel, if this was a dollar, and we cut it into four parts, each of these parts would be a quarter. And then if you have four quarters, you would have a whole dollar!”
I was quite satisfied with my mini Math lesson.
Then Miguel eagerly piped up, “Yeah…and if we pay it off, then we’ll have none!”

Miguel is so funny! You can never predict what he will say next.
It is fascinating though to see how a child listens to his parents and subconsciously applies the rules and logic of their world to his own.
When you came by with Miguel today, almost everything I said to him, he responded by taking what I said and putting a surprising twist to it. He is a very considerate and thoughtful child!
