Horror

April 28th, 2009 by Christie

For years I’ve tried to interest Isaac in reading. Oh, he knows how to read, but he refuses to read a book unless he’s required to do so. I’ve made sure I have boy-friendly books, I’ve read him the first chapter of a book hoping it would catch his interest, and I’ve required reading for his school work. But nothing has succeeded in getting Isaac’s attention in books.
Yesterday he picked up a book that is a collection of classic horror. It contains “Dracula”, “Frankenstein” and “Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde.” Isaac started reading in the morning, and he read all day. He was unstoppable. I’ve never seen him so interested in a book! The story he’s reading right now is “Dracula”. Not what I would have chosen, but I’m so pleased Isaac is reading, that I’m not complaining.

Actually, I was looking at the books on the table the night before, and I told him that I found some bedtime stories for him.

Yes, you did, My Dear. I was remiss in not giving you credit. :-) But when you handed him that book, I scoffed and thought it would do no good to recommend a book to Isaac. I was wrong!
